Climate change can alter ecosystem

Climate change is making major changes in ecosystems, such as changes in the life cycle of plants and animals and sea level rise on the surface. According to a study presented by Patrick Gonzales, U. S. National Park Service in presenting "Finding ways to adapt to the fragile ecosystem impacts of climate change" in 2011, before the Indonesian-American Kavli Irish scientific symposium, on Saturday (07/09/2011) in Bogor.

He explained that climate change shifts the time of flowering plants and the migration of animals. Events indirectly influence the life cycle of plants and animals, and ultimately affects the stability of ecosystems.

"Indications of climate change double-tree mortality was detected in the United States 1955-2007," he explained. "The impact of other large, high temperatures and sea surface height," added Gonzalez.

Gonzalez study examined the different regions of the world. In some parts of the ecosystem is undergoing great changes, he says, "more urgent, since climate change than other factors."

This study, Gonzales said, it is expected that the information and data that can be used as a reference in the management practices to adapt to these changes. "We no longer possible, this step is necessary," he said.
